About This Experience

As my interest in blockchain technology deepened in mid-2023, I encountered a common challenge that many university students face – the absence of a community that shared my passion. At Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT), there was virtually no blockchain presence, despite the growing importance of Web3 technologies in the global tech landscape.

Rather than accept this gap, I decided to bridge it by founding the Blockchain & Web3 club at DeKUT. What started as a small team of just 5 passionate individuals has grown into one of the most active clubs on campus, boasting over 150 members today.

Leading this community from its inception to late 2024 taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, persistence, and the power of shared vision. We didn't just focus on membership numbers; we prioritized meaningful engagement through educational workshops, industry partnerships, and hands-on learning experiences.

One of my proudest achievements was securing numerous partnerships with blockchain organizations and hosting events that brought real-world insights directly to our campus. Watching fellow students discover their passion for blockchain technology and seeing them build their first DApps was incredibly fulfilling.

When I handed over leadership to an excellent team in late 2024, I knew the club was in capable hands. The continuous growth and impact of Blockchain & Web3 DeKUT proves that sometimes, all it takes is one person willing to start the conversation to ignite a movement.
